Julian was born in Winter Park, Florida and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina in a military family along with his two brothers. From an early age, Julian had a passion for Youth. He was a member of the North Carolina National Guard teen council, a volunteer for the Raleigh Boys Club of Wake County, where he met his to-be future wife, Raygene, and an undergraduate mentor at NC State where he finished his Bachelor’s degree.

Saved as a teenager, during the final years of his time at NC State, Julian began to feel God calling him to disciple young people. After moving to Columbus, Ohio in 2018 to attend Ohio State, Raygene and Julian found Guide Church and immediately recognized it as a place where they could both spiritually grow. After serving in the Youth Ministry for 2 years, Julian began leading the Youth Ministry on a part time basis while finishing his PhD at Ohio State. After defending his thesis in December 2023, he came on staff at Guide Church full time.
